The Foundation owns and maintains the Woodcock Demonstration Garden on 2.74 acres. The garden presents a variety of gardening themes, including a rose garden, cottage garden, pollinator garden, shade garden, culinary and medicinal herb gardens, ornamental shrub garden, and an ornamental grasses garden. Vegetable gardening in raised beds and on trellises is demonstrated, along with small fruit (berries and kiwi) growing, and composting methods. There are beautiful and interesting display areas for succulents, container gardening, and dahlias, to name a few. Additionally, there is an orchard with a variety of apple, pear, and Asian pear trees with demonstrations of different growing methods.
The garden is open to the public during daylight hours year-round, with parking in the west entrance. Master Gardeners gather at Woodcock between 9 and noon on Thursdays for work parties—a good time to stop by with gardening questions. The garden provides a pleasant and tranquil place for picnic lunches or quiet respites in beautiful surroundings. Please join us, enjoy the facility, and perhaps learn something about gardening in our area.
